I won't hesitate to take my family here when we're in St. Louis. The chicken is fantastic, and the sides delicious. The staff was courteous and helpful. When I placed our order, the cashier pointed out a meal that included everything we wanted and more and cost less.

I know I used to like Lee's. Maybe this is the first time I got their strips. Not impressed, not crispy, kind of dry. Potato wedges are not crispy. All of this may be a side effect of the styrofoam(!) to-go container with zero steam holes. It was about 8pm, and their dining room seemed closed already, which is weirdly early. Wedges were not very tasty either. In fact they're all so bland with steamed texture, the only thing I finished was the mashed potatoes. Wedges should be in a fry-like container to avoid this issue. Possibly better when eating-in. Mashed potatoes aren't plentiful enough--one small ice cream scoop full. My biggest complaint (and reason for writing this review) is the fact that I said I wanted 3 strips. She offered that I could get 5 strips for $__. I repeated I wanted 3 strips (yes 3 strips is an option on the menu). The receipt says 3 strips, but I received 5 strips, and the associated price was for 5 strips, so I'm not happy. I only ate 2 of them, since they're no good. Also, the fact that they call these "jumbo" strips is a joke, as they are average-to-small. I might go back once more to eat-in and try the chicken on the bone, even though I hate eating meat off the bone, because I'm sure it must be better. One star because it was fast, and one star because I used to like them years ago, though other locations.

If you like fried chicken, then you WILL like Lees. I think this is the best joint in St. Louis. When I get that craving for fried chicken, I always head over to Lee's. Lee's serves 3 kinds of chicken: Famous Recipe, Crispy Spicy, and Oven Roasted. My favorite is the crispy spicy - it has a good amount of crisp and a bit of heat. Yum. The meals come with sides, there are many to choose from - my favorites are the green beans, mashed potatoes, and cole slaw. I know, I like the basics. They have a lunch combo menu on the weekdays for $3.99. Also have some "local" favorites, such as livers, gizzards, fried pickles, gallon jugs of iced tea. Very good. This location has always been clean and had friendly service. You gotta try it... you know you want to!

I usually think that rating fast food joints is completely dumb, but this one made me think twice about my assumptions. I thought that was worth a review. Lee's was brought in while having to work on a Sunday. As a result, I'm not able to comment on the location itself and the service, but I'll give a quick review of the food. I must start with saying that I rarely do fast food and can't remember the last time fast food included a stop at a friend chicken place, but I might change my mind now. I had a roasted chicken breast, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, and a biscuit. It was all good. The green beans were phenomenal. The chicken breast was quite moist and really well seasoned. The mashed potatoes were covered in a nicely spiced, yummy gravy. The biscuit was nothing special but still good. I was also surprised by the nutritional stats. I follow Weight Watchers and was surprised to find that this lunch only set me back 12 points. Anybody that knows WW and how quickly fast food can add on points knows that it's not bad at all for a yummy, filling meal.

This was my FIRST visit to Lee's. I do not believe we have Lee's in Chicago. As soon as I walked in the ladies at the counter greeted me. Very friendly. I also found out that the founder of Lee's was the nephew of KFC founder. I guess Lee was with his uncle in the early days of KFC. Interesting history. I ordered the three piece meal; spicy. The chicken was not spicy for my taste. I do not even think the chicken had any spice on it, however, the chicken was tasty. It did not taste anything like KFC. On a brighter note, the hot sauce was yummy. The chicken was very moist and they tasted good. I am taking one star away because the spicy chicken was not spicy, and another star for the breading . It would have been much better if there were less breading on the chicken pieces. I would go back again. I think I will try the original next time.

As usual, the food is very tasty. The counter help were a bit preoccupied playing with one of the off duty employees baby, so I along with another man had to stand there waiting until the guy on the pack line noticed us and told the cashier to help the customers. It was only a few minutes, so not a big deal. She was friendly, helpful and did upselling to both myself and the other customer. The food was promptly served and it was was hot and fresh. My order came up and I walked into the dining room.it was just before 4 in the afternoon so I do not think they'd had a sudden rush of eat in diners. I worked here years ago, so maybe I'm being overly judgemental, but the initial impression of an eating establishment is the interior/dining area. More than half the tables were dirty, 2 had trays and food on them. Yes, lazy customers had left them but they still left the dining area even trashier looking. There were 5 people standing behind the counter playing with some baby when there was a dining room that was in need of very serious attention. The floors had food and napkins under most of the tables. Someone did come out and finally started to clean up the dining area but seemed more interested in the employees child that was doing homework at one of the tables. The trash cans were cleaned out and there were only a couple of trays, so somebody was keeping up on at least a nominal part of the dining area though I think the tables should have been addressed prior to the cans and trays. At least that is what our supervisor taught and trained us. When I worked here, again, its been a long time, we were not allowed to take orders or work at all in street clothes, even if 'just making biscuits'. Management always had extra shirts we had to put on if we forgot ours. Maybe management and standards have slipped over the years, but at least the food is still tasty. And when did this become a daycare because of a snow day? Will this deter me from future visits to Lee's, no. I may reconsider dining in and take my food home and fight for my food with my cats. Let me reiterate, my review of the food and the service is great but the 1 star is for how trashed the dining area was for 4 in the afternoon, had it been during lunch or some rush, my review would reflect that. As everyone was gathered behind the counter, near the drive-thru window, a recent rush did not seem likely. A trashed dining room, dirty food covered tables and filthy floors at 4 p.m. is unacceptable.

So disappointed. Love their chicken but this time was so disappointed. Ordered to go and when I got home the green beans were on top of my potatoes. The food did not leave my lap so at no point did the food tip over in the car. Their service was just plain SLOPPY and servings were comparable to a kids meal.

I have eaten here more times than I have anywhere else in this world. Of all the fast food fried chicken chains, I love Lee's the most. About twice a month, I stop by this location. The girls at the counter are sweet and helpful. I get my two piece thigh and leg, a side of corn on the cob, and a side of green beans. The crispy fried chicken is my favorite as it has a slight spicy kick. I woof it all down in 10 minutes and carry on with rest of my evening activities. On a related note, here is my break down of fast food fried chickens: Popeyes - too fried (there is such a thing in my book) Church's - too fatty and the meat is not as good quality as Lee's KFC - More salty than the others and the skin is not as crispy Alas, I return to Lee's time after time.
